This event is for Girl Scouts only. We will be closed to the general public for this event.
The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri has teamed up with Pole Position Raceway St. Louis to blend cutting–edge racing technology with Missouri State Approved science and technology lessons plans to create an amazing experience.
The Academy Of Racing Science is a fun and safe environment where scientists and engineers (who happen to be race car drivers) are making Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) more fun than ever before.
With the help of Matter and our Education Team, we have developed four hours of high-energy lessons that will fuel your students' interest in physics and engineering. The plans effectively integrate STEM concepts into three fun, rigorous, and team-based experiences that align with national, state, Next Gen Science and Missouri Learning Standards.
For example, in The Physics Of Fast, Part One:
• Scouts get behind the wheel and experience Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion: Force, Mass, Speed and Acceleration.
• Scouts will calculate and graph speed and acceleration on a straightaway.
• Scouts will observe the effects on acceleration when mass and exerted force are changed.
Form a team with your troop, bring a Dad, or bring another Girl Scout and compete with others… Earn a patch for applying science and engineering strategies. Move through four fun and educational stations and then try your hand at racing one of the race cars!
Awards will be given at the end of the competition to teams that earn the most points.
Guardians/parents will be provided a waiver to sign for their daughters with the confirmation letter.
Cost per person per session $25.00
