P2R: Tell us about your racing background:
Skyler: I started racing at age 5, and I won my first race. I was top five in the state, and top ten in the country. I raced 7 years. I started racing BMX after I got into a bad crash from racing dirt bikes. I started racing at age 11. During my bmx racing career I took 2nd at the grand nationals, and won the Red Line Cup. I also won state three years in a row. Started racing karts (DR Kart )18 months ago (March 2012)
P2R: Tell us about your motocross racing career?
Skyler: I started racing at age 5, and I won my first race. I was top five in the state, and top ten in the country. I raced 7 years
P2R: How did you get involved in kart racing?
Skyler: I didn't really know about racing until my uncle talked to me about how he won 6 national titles when he used to race.
P2R: What is your favorite aspect about karting?
Skyler: My favorite aspect about karting is the fluency between the kart and the driver, and how you have to be one with the kart when you drive.
P2R: Tell us about your karting team?
Skyler: The Pole Position Kart Racing Team is made up of 6 drivers. Jake French (S1), Chris Jennings (S4), Cody Freeman (S2), Austin Wilkins (S5) & Landen Wilkins (Mini Max Rotax)
P2R: How involved are your parents with your kart racing?
Skyler: My dad owns a Pole Position Raceway in Texas and runs a go kart racing team. My mom and dad are always there supporting me.
P2R: Tell us about Pole Position Raceway Frisco and what makes it so special?
Skyler: There is nothing like it anywhere else. All my friends hang out there.
P2R: How much fun is it racing high-performance electric karts with your friends?
Skyler: Real fun since I can beat them all. It's cool to just hang out and
P2R: If you could provide five tips to your friends to go faster at Pole Position Raceway, what would they be?
1. Slower is faster
2. Break in a straight line
3. Be consistent. hit the apex
4. Be smooth
5. Look ahead
P2R: What is the most-exciting part of racing karts outdoors?
Skyler: Being able to race at speeds close to 120 mph
P2R: What's the worst crash you have had?
Skyler: Motocross I broke my collar bone, wrist, elbow and cracked my femur. So far, karts are way safer.
