On Jan 9, 2011 a special event took place at Pole Position Raceway in Corona California. The event was held by the Corona Firefighters Association and Burn Institute-Inland Empire.

The Burn Institute is a nonprofit organization that works to prevent fire injuries. Held twice a year, Camp Beyond Scars works with children who have fire wounds.

During the camp, children meet others who have had similar experiences. The children also talk with firefighters who have gone through some of the same experiences.

In addition to the counseling, children participate in crafts, singing and other activities that boost self esteem.
