Years Racing: 8 years
P2R: Tell us about your racing background?
Christian: I began racing motocross when I was 11 years old at local races and started to go to nationals and traveling around the U.S. when I went pro in 2009. My first professional race was the X Games Super Z. It was a lot of fun racing against Jeremy Mcgrath, Kevin Windham, and a bunch of other good riders. I ended up getting 8th place so i was happy. I ended up getting a ride for the last four outdoor nationals with Joe Gibbs Racing Yamaha Team that season. It was a really good experience i ended up getting a couple top 10 finishes in the 450 class, and then got a ride for the TLD/Lucas Oil/Honda team. When I was getting ready for the 2010 Supercross season, I ended up having a bad crash while practicing and broke my back really bad so I was on the sidelines for the whole 2010 season.
P2R: What's it like racing in front of 60,000 people in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series?
Christian: It's really crazy! I used to just go and watch when I was little, and now lining up in front of all the fans is a really cool feeling.
P2R: When you were a kid, did you ever imagine that you would be a professional racer?
Christian: My dad Mike Craig raced motocross professionally so I grew up around motocross my whole life. But I never was really into it to much at the time. I liked riding BMX when I was little, and never really touched a motorcycle, so I didn't really think i was ever going to be a professional racer.
P2R: What's it like riding for a Honda factory-backed racing team and a legend like Troy Lee?
Christian: It's a lot of fun. The whole team is like a big family. They stuck behind me when i was out with a broken back, so i can't thank them enough for that, but just everything about the team is awesome.
P2R: How did you get introduced to indoor karting?
Christian: There was always a lot of talk about Pole Position Raceway since it opened, so I figured I needed to check it out. Turns out it was a lot more fun than I ever expected!
P2R: What's your favorite race format at Pole Position Raceway?
Christian: The 90-minute Team Endurance race.
P2R: What do you think about the electric karts?
Christian: I think it's a lot better idea then having gas karts for sure. I was surprised at how fast the electric karts could go.
P2R: What's the best advice that you could give to new drivers at Pole Position Raceway to go faster?
Christian: Everybody thinks that sliding the karts around the corners is faster, but it's really not. You just have to be smooth and not out of control.
P2R: What was it like racing against Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya and some of the other top drivers in NASCAR?
Christian: I've always seen those guys on television, and to meet them in person was pretty crazy. They are all really nice guys, and pretty fast in go karts.
P2R: If you could pick any driver in the world to race against, who would it be?
Christian: Jimmie Johnson just cause he has been dominating NASCAR so much!
